Rider Physiotherapy

Improve how you move in the saddle and ride more effectively.

Rider physiotherapy focuses on how your body moves in the saddle
and what’s limiting your position, control and performance.

Through a structured assessment, we identify what’s limiting your movement and give you clear, targeted strategies to improve.

Sessions are delivered by a qualified physiotherapist with postgraduate training in veterinary physiotherapy.

You’re doing the work, but something isn’t quite clicking.

This is for you if

  • Sitting trot feels like hard work

  • Your horse feels different every ride

  • You struggle to stay balanced without tension

  • Transitions feel inconsistent or resistant

  • You’ve hit a plateau despite good training

  • Your position doesn’t feel as stable or effective as it should

Most riders don’t feel what they’re doing in the saddle. That’s exactly what we assess.

Why Rider Physiotherapy Matters

Your position and movement directly influence how your horse goes.

If you’re stiff, asymmetrical or bracing through your body
it changes the way your horse has to move underneath you.

Over time, this can show up as:

  • Loss of rhythm

  • Resistance in transitions

  • Crookedness

  • Difficulty progressing in training

You can keep adjusting your horse
or you can address what’s coming from you.

What to expect in your first session

Every session starts on the horse.

We assess how you move in the saddle and how that is influencing your position and control.

From there, we move off the horse to:

  • Assess mobility, strength and motor control

  • Treat any areas limiting your movement

  • Implement targeted exercises

Where appropriate, we return to the saddle to integrate the changes straight away.

You’ll leave with a clear understanding of:

  • What’s limiting your riding

  • What we’re working on

  • What to focus on moving forward

What changes

After a rider physiotherapy assessment, riders often notice:

  • Better control without tension

  • More consistent contact

  • Improved balance in transitions

  • Less effort required to sit and stabilise

  • A clearer feel for what their horse is doing

The goal isn’t perfection.
It’s making riding feel more effective and less like hard work.
