In-House Rehabilitation

Give your horse the time, structure and support needed to recover properly.

Rehabilitation is not just rest. It requires a structured approach to progress safely and effectively.

Whether your horse is coming back from injury, surgery or ongoing issues, managing rehabilitation on your own can be difficult.

It is not always clear:

  • what level of work is appropriate

  • when to progress

  • or how to avoid setbacks

Without guidance, it is easy to do too much, too soon, or not enough to make progress.

In-house rehabilitation is particularly useful when time, consistency or access to the right setup makes rehabilitation difficult to manage at home.

To get the best outcome, rehabilitation needs to be structured, progressive and closely monitored.

In-house rehabilitation provides a controlled environment where your horse’s program can be managed day-to-day, with regular physiotherapy input and clear progression.

Each rehabilitation program is tailored to the individual horse and may include:

  • Regular physiotherapy assessment and treatment

  • Structured exercise programs based on stage of rehab

  • Gradual progression of workload

  • Use of arena, hills and fitness track

  • Ongoing monitoring and adjustment of the plan

Rehabilitation is supported by access to a range of facilities to allow appropriate progression through each stage.

Facilities include:

  • Stables, day yard or paddock options

  • 60 x 40 all-weather arena

  • Round yard

  • Fitness track with hills

  • Rehabilitation equipment

  • Access to the water treadmill at Equitread (Strathalbyn)

Progress is guided, not guessed.

This means:

  • A more controlled and consistent rehabilitation process

  • Reduced risk of setbacks or re-injury

  • Clear progression through each stage of recovery

  • Improved strength, movement and overall function

  • Confidence that your horse is doing the right amount of work at the right time

What to expect with in-house rehabilitation

Your horse will be managed onsite with a structured plan tailored to their injury, condition or performance goals.

  • Initial assessment to establish starting point and plan

  • Regular physiotherapy sessions

  • Ongoing communication regarding progress and changes

  • Adjustments to workload as your horse improves

Programs are individualised and adapted based on how your horse responds over time.

When should you consider in-house rehabilitation?

  • Returning from injury or surgery

  • Ongoing issues not improving with standard management

  • When consistency of work or management is difficult at home

  • Horses requiring structured strength and conditioning

  • When you want a more guided, hands-on approach to recovery

In many cases, rehabilitation is most effective when combined with ongoing physiotherapy assessment.
